The mission of Door-posts is to connect homeschooling families of Christian Church in the Wildwood with each other and to provide our children with opportunities to serve and participate in extra-curricular activities together. The name “Door-posts” comes from our theme verse, Deuteronomy 6:5-9:
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart, and you shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and forehead. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Details of the Mission Statement/Goals
What do we define a “homeschooling family” as? Quite simply, a homeschooling family is a family where at least one child is being educated at home.
We are not yet open to the entire homeschooling community at large. While you do not have to be a member of CCW to join Doorposts, we do require regular attendance at CCW. However, we do require church membership if you’d like to teach any of our co-op classes. If the class you’d like to teach is Bible-related, CCW requires you to be a member for at least one year.
The “activities” spoken of in our mission statement are as follows and will be explained in greater detail in other parts of this handbook:
- co-op
- field trips
- service projects
